We commenced our tour with 2 nights in Paris and the morning of the third day the group took the TVG train to Dijon, then by coach to Beaune where we enjoyed a guided tour of Hotel-Dieu Hospice. We then had free time to walk the old town and enjoy a late lunch in a cafe of choice.

We were in the town for approximately two and a half hours, just enough time to visit the Hotel - Dieu Hospice built in 1443 and now maintained as a museum. For us it was the highlight of our visit, beautifully restored and it is easy to see its its age as the space for the beds is extremely small.

Whilst in the hospice look for Van der Weyden's painting of The Last Judgement.

The centre of town is picture perfect, beautiful walking streets, cafes , restaurants, attractive shops which attract female tourists.

We enjoyed a light lunch and then Jill and I walked sections of the town, no planned directions, just wandered and enjoyed what we saw.

Time soon ran out and we rushed back to our meeting point and the waiting coach which took us to Chalon-sur-Saone where we joined our 7 night river cruise to Arles.

Our coach was very comfortable and we relaxed and enjoyed the scenic view of the French countryside. Much more relaxing than our previous 10 days travelling Cornwall and walking the streets of London. I must say we had a fantastic time in England!
